Rancho Makena is faithful to the original concept of a lodge: accommodation in rustic cabins in the middle of the woods.

The cabañas are in three separate buildings with two floors each. Each floor has a separate entrance with two large rooms with private baths. Amenities include: hot water, refrigerator, small living room and kitchenette.

There is daily maid service, laundry service offered once a week and internet service at specific hours. There’s a small restaurant/cafeteria with satellite television and views of Monteverde, the Golf of Nicoya and Puntarenas.

Rancho Makena is a comfortable, family run establishment surrounded by lush forest and located close to the entrance of the enchanted Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. Guests will find simple, clean and comfortable rooms constructed of wood, and with views of the forest and the valley below.

Rancho Makena offers tours of their dairy farm, during which you can participate in milking their cows. They also offer horseback tours that finish with a visit to a waterfall as well as other tours of the local mountains and countryside.
