DAY 1: ARRIVE IN SAN JOSE 

Arrive at the San Jose International Airport. Upon clearing immigration and customs, exit the airport and meet your driver who will be waiting for you. Board the van for the 20 minute drive to San Jose. Check-in to a Room -standard room at SLEEP INN HOTEL for 1 night.

DAY 3: TORTUGUERO (NORTH CARIBBEAN)

Early next morning, nearby howler monkeys often provide a natural alarm clock at first light, and for those interested in birds, this is the time to see many species of hummingbirds, parrots, toucans, woodpeckers, and finches that abound around the lodge.  After breakfast, board your boat with local guide for a day of tours on Tortuguero’s network of lakes and channels. Additional explanation of the day:  The tour to see the Green Sea Turtles laying eggs at night is only possible during the months from July to October.

DAY 5: PUERTO VIEJO (SOUTH CARIBBEAN )

Free day to explore this area that’s full of life. You can go to Manzanillo Reserve, downtown Puerto Viejo, Cahuita National Park. Overnight at Azania Bungalows (B)

DAY 7: ARENAL VOLCANO

The allowed closest point to the Arenal Volcano accessed through the Arenal Volcano National Park; undoubtedly the best way to do this is in the company of a local, naturalist and bilingual guide who is provided in this Combo Tour.

Visit the Park; contemplate its majesty from the best vantage point in the area, also, known places surrounded by old volcanic eruptions, with old lava. Finish this incredible journey relaxing in the hot Baldi.

After hiking you will enjoy Baldi Hot Springs and a delicious lunch or dinner buffet style. In this resort you will find over 30 pools, temperatures ranging from 95F to 149F slides and much more.

DAY 9: MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK

Details

The park is made up of numerous trails, taking you through the rainforest and onto a number of pristine white sand beaches, only reachable through the park. The park is alive with tropical butterflies, birds, monkeys, snakes, iguanas, sloths, orchids and more. On this tour you’ll be able to learn about their life cycle and their special abilities and behaviors. For those that love nature and exploration, the walk within this park will be unforgettable.

Note: The National Park is closed on Monday. This tour will not be operated on that day.

What to Bring: Comfortable light clothing, hiking shoes, bottled water, camera, sunscreen, towel, insect repellent, bathing suit.

DAY 11.  SAN JOSÉ – END OF SERVICE.

DAY 2: TORTUGUERO (NORTH CARIBBEAN)

Early morning pick up at hotel for ground and boat transportation to MAWAMBA LODGE, located in the midst of Tortuguero National Park, a tropical rainforest, and a navigable network of lakes and channels that crosses the area from southeast to the northwest.  This allows a great diversity of fauna and flora of the region to be observed close at hand.  Additionally, it is the most important nesting site in the western half of the Caribbean for the Green Turtle. The tour to see the Green Sea Turtles laying eggs at night is only possible during the months from July to October. (B) (L) (D)

DAY 4: TORTUGUERO/PUERTO VIEJO (SOUTH CARIBBEAN)

After breakfast, return to the docks, where your driver will meet you and take you to HOTEL AZANIA BUNGALOWS, located on Costa Rica’s Caribbean side.

This area offers abundant wildlife, pristine rain forest and plenty of activities for the adventurous. The two charming villages of Puerto Viejo and Cahuita start to live on reggae rhythms at sunset with an authentic Afro-Caribbean atmosphere. Visitors will find lots to do in the area, beginning with sunbathing and swimming along the miles of white, sand and coral beaches. (B) (L)

DAY 6: PUERTO VIEJO (SOUTH CARIBBEAN)/PACUARE RIVER/ ARENAL VOLCANO

Pacuare River Rafting Class III-IV

One Day Trip

Discover the rush of navigating the rapids of Rio Pacuare, while enjoying the scenery and exuberant vegetation of this incredible adventure. This is one of most loved tours, not only for being world-renowned in rafting, but also for being on the most beautiful river in Costa Rica. This is a full-service tour, a day full of fun and adrenaline, 18 miles and a total of 52 rapids.

What to bring? – rafting clothes (light shoes, swimwear, short pants, nylon shirts), sunscreen, water bottles, change of clothes, towel, insect repellant and a credit card to buy photos, souvenirs and drinks. Everything is safely stored in lockers. What’s included? – Breakfast, lunch, transportation, to and from, San Jose, Puerto Viejo or La Fortuna.

Our tour starts when our microbuses pick up the adventurers from the main hotels between 6 and 630 am. A very Costa Rican breakfast is served around 8 am. After breakfast, we drive out to the town of Tres Equis in Turrialba, where our specialized guides await us with all the gear ready to start the adventure. Each participant is given a lifejacket, helmet and a paddle. One of our guides will give a safety talk and a small demonstration before starting this impressive adventure through rapids such as Huacas, Cimarrones y Dos Montañas. Pacuare offers spectacular scenery, waterfalls, cascades, trails and a large diversity of flaura and fauna. Morpho butterflies, sloths, toucans, poison-arrow frogs and a large variety of songbirds can be observed. The incredible nature and impressive landscapes continue the entire route. The route is around 18 miles, and lasts 3.5 hours. Minimum age to participate in the tour is 12 years old. Once the trip is over on the river, you can take a shower or change clothes in the stalls ready for our clients, before traveling back to your respective hotels, returning back between 5:00 and 5:30 PM.

DAY 8: ARENAL VOLCANO / MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK

After your breakfast 7.30, we begin the ride at from La Fortuna; we will head towards the Pacific Coast in comfortable late model mini-vans, with the opportunity to cross the famous Rio Grande of Tárcoles, which boasts the largest American Crocodile (Crocodylus Acutus) population in Central America. Once we reach the beautiful Hacienda Nosavar we will board a tractor-pulled wagon for about 20 minutes through the Hacienda to the shores of the Tárcoles River. We will then board safe and comfortable boats in the wetlands near the Carara National Park, which is renowned for its significant Scarlet Macaw (Ara Macao) population. We will travel 1.5 hour boat ride through the mouth of the river and along areas near the sandbanks where we can observe aquatic birds like kingfishers, herons, pink spoonbills as well as incredible crocodiles over five meters (16.5 ft.) long, all in their natural habitat. Afterwards, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before returning to the van to continue our trip to the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park. Overnight at HOTEL LA MANSION (D) (A).

DAY 10: MANUEL ANTONIO NATIONAL PARK / SAN JOSE

Morning at leisure in Manuel Antonio and then in the afternoon transfer back to San Jose Overnight at SLEEP INN HOTEL. (B)
